The War That Will Never End

November 16, 2007 at 1:35 pm | In Personal |

The United States is currently in the middle of a generational war that could be equivalent to the Cold War.  This is the kind of struggle that could take many years to put to an end.  Allies are currently fighting in the middle east to stop terrorism across the globe.  Many people are against this war and many people are for it.  Unfortunately, there is a tendency to underestimate the threat that terrorists pose on different nations.

Almost a year ago, anti-war citizens of the United States helped put congressional Democrats into power but they are still unable to bring any troops home.

Personally, I think this war is some completely unnecessary.  If I had the power, I would stop it all and just make the world leaders come to their senses.  Sure, people disagree over things.  The only reason Iraqi’s dislike us so much is because we allied with their enemies.  It’s silly, that’s like you becoming best friends with your best friends enemy.  You can still be friends with the both of them, you would just have to make some adjustments.  Unfortunately, it’s clear to us that the war doesn’t seem likely to end any time soon.   All we can do is pray for the safe return of the brave men and women across the Atlantic Ocean.

Think about it: Is there any solid way to exterminate terrorism? You would have to change the way people think.  People have hateful comments to say about almost anything, and there is nothing you can do about it.  Sadly, some of those hateful comments are towards a country, a leader, or a type of person.  Some of those hateful comments can lead to irrational things.  Is there any true way to get rid of terrorism for good?  If there isn’t, wouldn’t that mean this war we’re fighting will go on forever?

What are your opinions on the war that is currently active in Iraq?

If you had the power, what would you do to change things?

  1. Honestly, I don’t think were at war with terrorism, as the country seems to believe. We’re at war with Iraq. It’s not a war against terrorism, it’s a war against another country. If we were fighting terrorism, don’t you think we’d be focusing on more than one country? When is our country going to wake up and realize that this war hasn’t really had any positive results, or that it’s going no where? If the United States really wants to defeat terrorism, they’ll change their strategy.

  2. George Bush says that the war is against terrorism, then why are we trying to rebuild Iraq’s government? If Bush wants to attack terrorism, why are we trying to get Iraq feedom? Terrorism will never go away. Just like there will always be bullys and mean kids in school, it will always exist. I really hope that when a new president is elected, they will get our troops out of Iraq.

  3. I think that this war caused more problems than what it was like before we had the war! All we are doing in this war right now is wasting lives and supplies. It isn’t fair. Why does there have to be this big war when all we are doing is trying to find this one guy that is hiding in the mountains some where. We have sent so many troops over htere and what for. Having a war does not solve problems it creates more. What is the point of bombing homes and killing others when all we are doing is causing more problems. There is terrorism and that isnt going to change. We are trying to find this one guy who cause all of this to happen and we are making such a big deal. I say, have like the FBI go and find this guy and then go and stop the war. It doesnt take 300,000 people. When there is a new president I hope that people understand that and that he does too. We need to stop war and find a better way to solve these problems.

  4. I one hundred and ten percent agree with wings31. If we were at a war with terrorism we wouldn’t be only firghting one country, we would be fighting just about all of them. And correct me if I am wrong but I think I heard somewhere that technically this war could be looked at as illegally. This is because if you are going to start a war the has to be approve by Congress.

  5. Terrorism is going to be around no matter what. How will starting a war stop terrorism in any way, shape or form? It just does not make any sense to me at all. There can be no winner of this war because terrorism will never stop. Does the president really think that after this war is “won or over” that terrorism will actually stop? It seems like the only person wanting this war is the president and everybody else is against it. How come the war is still going on? Does the president really have that much power that he can just command a war to start, and it isn’t over until he says it is even though everybody is against the war in the first place. AHH! This topic really gets me heated up and I am probably making no sense, but anyway AMAZING blog post topic. If I had the power I would defenitley stop the war. It seems like the war is going on just for the sake of war. I have no idea really, all I am sure of is this war is defenitley an interesting topic to debate over.

  6. I totally and completely agree with wings31 and it is hard 4 me to comment on this post because she said it so well and I don’t no another way to put it. The war should be stopped whatever it is sopposed to be about though. And if cthornets08 is right, that is just another reason to stop the war with Iraq.
